Byrd, Richard E. Docketed and endorsed on verso, "Byrd Antarctic Expedition." A chilling document. Signed "R.E. Byrd." 1888-1957. American explorer and aviator. Accomplished the first flight over the North Pole (1926) with Floyd Bennet, for which they received the Congressional Medal of Honor. In 1929 Byrd established a base in the Antarctic, and subsequently made four more expeditions to Antarctica.

Signed Check. Partially printed, oblong Octavo, 2½ x 6½", New York, June 28, 1928. Drawn on the Liberty National Bank, in the amount of $6,976.81, the check is paid to the order of "Byrd Antarctic Expedition."

This is the check that drew the funds that financed the famous explorer's first expedition to Antarctica!. Very Fine.
