Powerful, landmark first novel that won the National Book Award. The book opens with, "I am an invisible man. I am a man of substance, of flesh and bone, fiber and liquids--and I might even be said to possess a mind. I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me." Book is in very good condition. Well read, nevertheless well kept considering it was part of a now shuttered library their logo and rates stamped in blue. It was purchased by band leader, Artie Shaw whose bookplate is affixed to end paper. Original dust jacket with scattered creases otherwise fine. COA by Jonathan Shaw, son of Artie Shaw included.
