Harrison, William Henry -- Document Signed As Commanding Officer (1773-1841) Ninth President of the United States (1841); he died of pneumonia after serving only 31 days. Document signed "Wm H. Harrison" as Commanding Officer, one page, 9½ x 8", Fort Washington, Nov. 16, 1796. Harrison signs off on the "Return of Camp Equipage & Stationary wanting for use of Captain R Sparks on command to the Southard Fort Washington…." and orders the Quarter Master to issue supplies which include tents, kettles, axes, paper, quills, a box of wafers, inkpowder, orderly books, an inkstand, and knapsacks. Very good condition. Some show-through from glue remnants on verso; hole and/or small paper loss at top corners, affecting two words of text. Notes in other hands on verso, one noting receipt of most of supplies, with "signed Duplicates." Harrison's signature is clear and of medium boldness. Estimate $800 - 1,000
