1803 S-255 R1 Small Date, Small Fraction PCGS graded AU53. Frosty medium steel brown and light chocolate. The only marks visible without the aid of a glass are two small spots of darker toning in the field before the face and a spot of shallow corrosion on the left foot of the A in STATES. However a glass reveals extremely fine roughness on the face and upper neck with some reaching into the field off the chin. No verdigris. Nicely struck EDS, Breen state I. There are die clashmarks on both sides but no cracks or cuds. A clear double profile shows from the forehead down to the chin. Our grade is EF40 sharpness net VF30.
