Gothic, Handcrafted, Vintage Sterling Silver Cross Pendant, Amber Carved Skull and Copal Resin Bead Necklace. The most unusual piece of jewelry in this auction. A hand crafted sterling silver cross necklace suitable for either sex that is actually lidded revealing a full compartment inside. There are marks inside the lid of the cross that appear Greek or Cyrillic but simply not clear enough to make out. Within the necklace itself is a single and quite striking, handcarved and highly polished skull made of reconstitued amber, with an additonal 4 round amber beads stationed evenly throughout the necklace. The balance of the necklace have copal resin beads having high relief of concentric circles. This is a most striking piece of jewelry (some may even say a rosary) but certainly remarkable piece of wearable jewelry sure to generate much comment and admiration. Necklace is 33" in length, the cross is 68 x 46 mm, the amber skull is 27 x 24 mm, the 4 amber beads are 13½ mm and the copal resin beads 9 mm. Defintely a vintage piece. 2½ ozt.
