Schaltenbrand, Dr. Georges. Introduction to Stereotaxis with An Atlas of the Human Brain. Rare Three Volume Set (1894-1979) Georg Thieme, Grune & Stratton, 1959., Stuttgart, New York:, 1959. 3 volumes. Folio. 16 x 12". Monumental 3 volume set with a folio of 14 oversized transparencies detailing the mapping of the human brain. Author Schaltenbrand was one of the most prodigious and internationally renowned neurologists in Germany. When published in 1959, this work was hailed for the detail and accuracy of the photographs of the brain and proved a landmark text for neuroscience. Condition is fine, with the only issues being staining and some fraying of light blue cloth and gilt gold printing on boards. Otherwise the text and all the images and overlays in excellent condition. There are almost 300 plates and illustrations, and again, the quality is very fine. Each volume has been signed by a Dr. A Scheibel, a leader in Southern California in the study of the brain and neuroscience in the last half of the 20th Century. Very scarce especially complete and in this condition. Estimated Value $500 - UP
