Lot 54

1844 N-5 R1 First 4 Repunched PCGS graded MS61 Brown. Glossy medium brown with a trace of faded mint red on the reverse. Looks mint state but there is a hint of rub on the highpoints. The only marks are a faint scuff in the field before the mouth and a tiny vertical scratch up from the left top of the E in ONE. M-LDS, die state c. All the fine die cracks mentioned by Grellman are present but the cud break on the obverse has not formed. The repunching at the top of the first 4 is clear. Our grade is AU55. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 10 finer: 3 in 62, 3 in 63, 3 in 64, 1 in 64+. Estimated Value $400 - UP
