Lot 53

1803 C-3 R2 PCGS graded XF40. Glossy steel and olive brown with slightly lighter chocolate brown in protected areas. Essentially flawless except for a shallow planchet delamination (as struck) affecting the 00 in the denominator. MDS Manley state 3.0 late, with an obvious bulge at the 18, another less obvious bulge in the field under the hair ribbon, and a very faint die crack in the field close above the hair ribbon. The die lapping lines at ERTY and the die clashmarks before the neck are all sharp. Struck with the reverse rotated 15 degrees clockwise. A sharp, attractive piece in spite of the small planchet flaw. Our grade is VF35. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 8 finer, 2 in 53, 2 in 58, 1 in 62, 3 in 63 for the variety. Estimate Value $400 - UP
