Lot 514

1867 Liberty Seated Half Dime. EF-45. Here is the queen of the half dime series, the 1867. 8,000 were coined for circulation, scarcely enough to bag and ship, as very little silver was found to coin just after the Civil War drew to a close. The obverse has deep blue toning in the shape of a crescent moon on the right side, with medium gold color over Liberty. The reverse has little toning, and this coin must have been displayed obverse up for decades in an old style coin tray. Rare and desirable in this grade. Date collectors have to search long and hard to find one this nice, so expect to pay a premium and be glad if you're the lucky winner of this lot.
