(1672-94) London Elephant Halfpenny. Thick planchet. . Breen-186. VF-35. Variety without diagonals in the center of the shield. Ten points sharper but there are very light rim bruises around both sides, none significant or distracting but too many to ignore. Otherwise this piece is very nice for the grade showing only traces of friction on the highpoints and microscopic planchet chips scattered about both sides. Attractive glossy chocolate brown with frosty lighter brown in protected areas of the shield side, possibly lightly cleaned long ago but toned nicely now. Weight 227.5 grains.
