1864. Small motto. PCGS graded MS-64 Red. Well struck with about 50% mint red visible, the balance showing slightly mellowed mint color. Sharply struck and downright rare this nice, as the Small Motto coins were struck in quite limited numbers after carefully reviewing 1864 pattern pieces and deciding on a slightly larger letter punch for the Motto on the ribbon. Not many of the original Pattern style Small Motto coins were struck for circulation. However these are highly collectible when found with the Small Motto, especially so at this lofty grade level.
