Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 115

Lot 499

1811 C-2 R3 VF35. Sharpness EF40 or slightly better but there are some light contact marks on both sides. The notable marks are some faint hairline scratches and tiny nicks in the field before the portrait, a stronger nick between the nose and star 5, and a shallow planchet flake in the dentils under the end of the wreath ribbon (as struck). The toning is a very attractive glossy medium brown and light chocolate. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0 late, with fine die clashmarks behind the curls but none below the truncation. A sharp example of this tough date, and it has nice eye appeal. Value $5,500 - UP
Ex Don Valenziano 1983-The Widok Collection.

Realized $2,520
