Lot 476

Two Rare Worcester First Period, Blue & White Porcelain Chestnut Baskets ca. 1775. Rare, highly prized, 18th century blue and white porcelain chestnut baskets. These tureens are a fine example of this era and, the execution of all the details of the flowers, vine handles on the sides and the open lattice work on the cover in oval form are beautifully rendered. Both just at 5½ x 5¾ x 8". Note one has the pine cone details on the exterior walls painted blue, the other plain and both with crescent marks under glaze. Given their 250 years age we do note very minor issues. On both, a couple of flowers do have a single petal missing or slightly chipped, a couple of the flowers professionally affixed and we note just a couple of leaves as well have tiny chips. Overall these pieces remain in very fine conditon. No large chips, flakes or cracks and again, the colors vibrant, the pieces very clean, and again supremely scarce. $700 - 1,200
From A Prominent Pennsylvania Estate.
