Newton, Edith. Parlor Stove. Lithograph, 8½ x 11 inches, 1934, signed and dated in pencil at lower right, monogrammed in the matrix. Mounting remnants on back. Newton (1878-1964) was a lithographer and landscape painter whose work is in permanent exhibits in the New York Public Library and the Metropolitan Museum Of Art. A native of Michigan, she attended the Art Students League in New York and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. After moving to New Milford, Connecticut, she found inspiration in the old farmhouses there and often depicted their interiors in her artwork. Descended in the artist's family.
