Lot 47

1785 Vermont. . Ryder-2 Rarity-2. VF-35 VERMONTS Landscape type. Sharpness AU50 with very little if any wear but there is fine granularity covering both sides, probably as struck. In addition, there are a few small diagonal planchet fissures on the obverse and a patch of pre-striking roughness that obliterates the E in VERMONTS and the opposing A in DECIMA. No verdigris or contact marks. Slightly glossy medium brown and chocolate with olive brown toning in protected areas. Intermediate die state with a clear die crack from the plow down through the 8 in the date to the rim below. Excellent detail, and the planchet is decent for this landscape type in spite of the minor flaws. Weight 133.0 grains.
Estimated Value $500 - 1,000.

Realized $1,668
