Lot 4605
(Mussolini, Benito). Eleven photographs of the Italian dictator: two 5 x 3½ in. snapshots and seven photo postcards showing the gruesome execution and hanging of Mussolini, his mistress Clara Petacci and five other fascists after they were killed by Italian partisans. The photos are very graphic, showing the bodies piled in the street after being shot, then strung up by the ankles; one shows a bloodied Mussolini holding a mock Roman scepter in his hand, and one shows a close-up of his mutilated body in an open casket. Also, one 8 x 10 in. photo with Hitler in 1934 walking past a guard of honor, and one 5 x 7 in. 1938 photo standing in the back of a car with Hitler; with a copy of the March 21, 1936 showing Hitler and Mussolini shaking hands on the cover. All in very good condition.
