Domitian, 81-96 AD. Medallic Bilingual AE 37 mm. of Philippopolis, Thrace. Rare! An exceptional example of this rare type. Laureate head of Domitian right; legend in Latin. Reverse: Tyche-like female figure, in chiton and mural crown(?), stands left, holding patera and two ears of corn; before her, river god, Hebrus, reclines holding reed, arm on overturned urn, reed behind; Greek legend around. RPC 351; Mouchmov 3-5. Bold, stylish portrait in excellent variegated deep green, red and brown patina. Finely centered on spacious round flan. Extremely Fine.
