(Scotland and William Wallace) (Scotland) (1) 11 leaves from the first edition of Holinshed's Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland, printed in 1577 by John Harrison, 10¼ x 7½ inches, with 10 illustrations. One of the premier reference sources of its time, written with the approval of Queen Elizabeth I in mind. (2) An old album with 53 albumen photographs of Scottish scenery, by J. Valentine; the album is falling apart but the photos are mostly fine. (3) Vol. IX of John L. Stoddard's Lectures (on Scotland and England), published by Balch Brothers in 1902; leather and marbled boards, top gilt edge and light edgewear to binding. (4) Miniature book, The Story of Sir William Wallace, by A.H. Millar, NY: Frederick A. Stokes, n.d., with plaid cover and 1895 inscription. (5) Picture postcard of Wallace "from an ancient painting…."
