Egyptian Late Period (664-332 B.C.) Matched Pair of Cartonnage Sandals. Sandals fashioned of cartonnage with oblong soles and polychrome painted details. Impractial for use in the real world, these were funerary offerings placed with the mummy inside the coffin and to be used by the deceased in the afterlife. Blue ground with ivory ribbons or sashes outlined in black. Some perforation and/or cracking, particularly along the edges. Length: Approx. 11" each. Estimate Value $500 - 700
