Bowditch, Nathaniel. The New American Practical Navigator. New York: E.M. Blunt, 1817. Thick 9" x 5½" leather cound edition, consisting of 274 pages of text, 280 pages of nautical tables, and a very large appendix showing the parallaxes of the moon and sun, and related longitude calculations. Book is replete with numerous illustrations and calculations, including a fold-out chart/map of the Atlantic Ocean. Scattered foxing throughout, toned pages, and some damp-staining throughout. Rebuilt spine with gold-stamped title and remarques decorations, stamped "New York 1817." An excellent reference for those interested in early American nautical writing.
