Kingdom of Thrace. Lysimachos, 323-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.03 g) minted at Pella, c. 286-281 BC. Diademed head right of the deified Alexander the Great wearing the horn of Ammon above ear. Reverse: Athena Nikephoros enthroned left, holding Nike in her extended right hand, resting left elbow on shield with lion's head aegis; monograms in left field and on throne; "K" in exergue. Thompson (Essays Robinson) 255 (this obverse die; reverse monogram not listed). Struck in high relief; bearing a particularly masterful and powerful portrait of Alexander. Superb Extremely Fine.
