Lot 4012

Breslau (City). Ducat, 1554. Fr-445; Saurma-Jeltsch Pl XXXXI #21. 3.52 grams. 21.58 mm. Breslau. City coinage. Obv. Standing monarch within inner circle, broken by lance, sword and crown- holding lance in right hand and cloak, sword and shield in left hand. Leg: -*S*WENCES---LAVS*D*B (eagle). Reverse: Shield within inner circle. Leg: *MO.AVR.WRATISLAVIENSIS*1554. NGC graded MS-62.

An amazing grade for this type. Breslau had a tumultous history being fought over by Poland and Germany throughout the centuries. Add to that Bohemian and Hungarian intrigues, and the poor citizens of the city often didn't know who they belonged to.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,500.

Realized $2,990
