Lot 393

1802 Draped Bust Dollar. Narrow date. PCGS graded EF-45. A well struck example of medium steel gray and quite choice overall. Free from nicks, scratches, adjustment marks and other defects. Of all the known Bust Dollars, this is one of the most common varieties. For some reason, these dies just kept on going, and thousands upon thousands were struck. This variety is quickly recognizable by the missing right foot (serif) on the T of LIBERTY, and the reverse has a small die break connecting the second feather from the top to the rim on the left wing of the eagle. The broken T punch was also used on the reverse of 1801 BB-213, B-3. Here is a wonderful high end Extremely Fine example for the type (PCGS # 6895) .
Estimated Value $4,000 - 5,000.

Realized $4,370
