1802 S-231 R1. VG-8. Stemless Wreath. Glossy chocolate brown and steel. No roughness or verdigris and only a few contact marks, including a dull nick just left of the ribbon knot at the bottom of the wreath. This would be an unremarkable cent except for the die state. Very early die state, before Breen state I, without any die clashmarks on the reverse. The date and legends are complete and strong, and the stemless wreath feature is clear.
