Lot 375

1802 Wide Date, B-5, BB-242, Rarity 5. PCGS graded VF-25. Attractive even grey toning on both sides. A nice coin for the given grade. The Wide Date variety of 1802 is actually a fairly scarce coin, however, PGCS did not differentiate this variety for the first few decades of their grading, so all 1802 silver dollars fell into this category, hence the population looks plentiful. In reality the Wide date issue is quite scarce, and far less plentiful than the Narrow Date variety. A solid example of this tough issue and one which is hard to find for the Set Registry series with major varieties (PCGS # 40087) Estimated Value $1,800 - 1,900
The Santa Barbara Collection.

Realized $4,500
