Lot 370

1838 N-12 R2 ```. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown. Beautiful lustrous light olive with mint red showing on at least 15% of the planchet. Satiny and nearly flawless offering great eye appeal. The only marks are a microscopic speck of carbon hidden in the hair right of the ear lobe and a thin scuff nestled between the end of the wreath stem and the leaves above. Neither mark is significant or visible to the unaided eye. MDS with fine flowlines in the fields but the dentils are still complete around both sides. The reverse die is doubled on this variety (not machine doubling, a real doubled die), and the doubling shows clearest on the left side of the wreath. A really nice cent. Graded MS61 and CC#3 for the variety in the Noyes census, his photo #61016. Our grade is MS63+. PCGS population 3; none finer in BN at PCGS. (PCGS # 399518) Value $2,000 - UP
Ex Thomas D. Reynolds 6/9/2006-Nancy & Bryan Collection.
