1872, $5 National Gold Bank Note. National Gold Bank of D.O. Mills & Co., Sacramento, CA. Fr-1138. CGA graded EF 40. . Fr-1138. . KL-225. Only about three dozen $5 notes on this famous National Gold Bank have survived, including this beautiful example that is easily one of the best two or three listed in the census. The paper upon which these notes were printed did not wear well, and the vast majority of these Gold Bank notes did exactly as they were intended: circulated in commerce. Hence, most surviving examples from any bank are well worn. This note is a pleasant exception, and as such is an important rarity that should interest even the most fastidious collector.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 30,000.

Realized $32,200
