Macedonia. Akanthos, c. 430-390 BC. AR Tetradrachm (14.49 g). Lion, right, attacking bull kneeling to left; retrograde swastika above. Reverse: Ethnic around quadripartite square, the quarters raised and granulated; all within incuse square. Desneux --; SNG ANS --. Rare variant -- unique? The swastika is a common symbol on the tetrobols of this series, but apparently is unpublished in the major references with regard to tetradrachms. Well struck on very good metal. Untoned and lustrous. Extremely Fine.
