1835 N-2 R3 Head of 1834, Small 8 & Stars. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous bluish steel and olive with mint color in the protected areas on both sides. No spots, stains, or notable signs of contact. The best identifying mark is a microscopic planchet lamination right of star 13, as struck. Nicely struck MDS with fine radial die flowlines covering the fields on both sides. The die scratch from the stem tip is gone. The always-present raised line across the cheek (from a stray line in the die) is bold. Called MS63 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21258. Bland says MS63 and tied for finest known honors. Our grade is MS63. The attribution and Nancy & Bryan Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65.
