Commodus, AD 177-192. Gold Aureus (7.32 g) minted at Rome, AD 186-187. Laureate and draped bust right of Commodus. Reverse: Nobilitas standing right, holding scepter and statuette (of Minerva?). Cf. RIC 153 [as Scarce]; Calicó 2292. Lustrous and boldly struck with a beautiful portrait. Nearly Mint State.

Commodus was the first emperor to depict a personification of Nobilitas.
