Canada, 1851, Queen Victoria, 12d black, laid paper. Scott 3. SG 4. Unitrade 3. Attractive example of this rare stamp with four full margins, Unused, no gum. Two small tears, one at lower left & other at bottom and small corner crease at bottom left. Only 1450 stamps were sold in the 1851-54 period out of 51,000 printed. Rest of the unsold stamps were destroyed. Not many sold because 12c mailing rate was seldom used. Long recognized as an imporrtant British Commonwealth rarity, most of these stamps are either faulty or repaired because of the fragile nature of the paper. Highly collectible example with excellent color. 1962 BPA & 2013 Philatelic Foundation Certs.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 30,000.
Ex-Dr Jerry Buss Estate Collection.

Realized $24,600
