Lot 3496

Israel. Investor Lot of 16 1954 100 Pruta, Rare Utrecht Die. A remarkable high grade group from the tiny mintage of just 20,000 pieces. Haffner writes: "The difference between the Berne and Utrecht dies was not discovered until 1960, three years after the coins were released in 1957. Only about 1000 of the Utrecht die variety are presently believed to exist." The Utrecht die issue has a smaller wreath that's further from the edge, smaller berries at the top, smaller beading, and narrower zeroes in the denomination. The current Krause catalog value is $300 in XF and $1000 in Unc. This lot represents a unique opportunity for an investor or dealer. Extremely Fine to Almost Uncirculated or better with usual contact marks.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
Stanley Yulish Collection.

Realized $1,438
