Fabulous 14K Yellow Gold Necklace With Pendant Dated 1885. Harness Racer, Beautifully Detailed in Yellow, Rose and White Gold. Rare and beautiful 19th Century pendant necklace of a harness racer (horse racing at a specific gate or trot), pulling a two wheeled cart called a sulky. An 14K yellow gold link necklace is centered with a purse shaped pendant with a horse shoe just at the top loop with a star pattern inside. But its the racer and sulky that impress. Cart is in yellow gold with the horse's bridle and harness in white gold. The horse is fashioned in brushed rose gold, a brilliant artistic touch given it gives the horse contrast and the appearance of movement. Necklace is 18" the pendant is 1 x 1½" Total gross weight 35¾ grams.
Underneath pendant is inscribed "Presented To C. Strassheim from Wm. Richards August 27th, 1885. In superior condition, we note no flaws on this 135+ years old pendant necklace. Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,500
