James Dean Signed Portrait Publicity Photo. James Dean (1931-1955) likely the most iconic actor and popular film star from the 1950s embracing a senstitive yet rebellious temperment that spoke to millions of young people. Starting on stage in NYC under the tutelage of Lee Strasberg, he was quickly discovered for television work and then film. EAST OF EDEN proved an enormous break in his popularity and recognition, exploded with REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE and ended as a legend in GIANT. Dean was the first actor to ever be nominated posthumously for Best Actor and Eden is the only film he got to see released. Here an 8 x 10, single weight Warner Brothers studio publicity still autographed by James Dean in blue fountain pen ink. Photo exhibits overall toning given its age, a coupled of nicks in the outermost white borders and some rippling. Removed from decades old frame there is a tape lift on verso where it was attached but in no way imacts the image. The signature is quite bold and fine across Dean's chest. $2,000 - 4,000

Realized $1,500
