Lot 338

1794 S-22 R1. PCGS graded AU-53. CAC Approved. Choice glossy medium brown. Traces of frosty flowline luster show in protected areas on both sides. A premium example for the grade, nearly flawless. The only mark is a small nick in the field off the chin. M-LDS, Breen state VII. The "Mounds" on the reverse are strong and a die crack passes up from the rim through the 4 ending half way up the neck. Called EF45 by Del Bland, and that is reasonable given the superior quality of this cent. Our grade is EF40. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 4 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 35531) .
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.
Ex David Anderson-Doug Bird-Dr. Philip W. Ralls.
