New Discovery from Shreveport, LA. T41. 1862. $100. Statement on back reads, "Paid out at Shreveport, LA / on the 26th day of / May 1864 by / Wm h Thomas / Major CS". Not listed in Michael McNeil's Confederate Quartermasters, Commissaries, and Agents, a required book for those that are interested in the Who and Where the interest bearing notes (T39, T40, T41) were issued during the Civil War. Major Thomas was stationed in Shreveport throughout the war, working for the Trans-Mississippi Department under Lt. General Kirby Smith. Military records show that he was paroled on June 8, 1865 after being captured in Shreveport by Federal forces at the end of the war.
