Lot 3327

Great Britain. Crown, 1845. S.3882; Dav-105; ESC-282; KM-741. Victoria, 1837-1901. Cinquefoil stops on edge. Obverse: Young portrait of Queen facing left, hair in bun. VICTORIA DEI GRATIA. Two ornate fillets to head band. Reverse: Crowned shield of arms within wreath. BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID:DEF: Minute contact marks on the obverse and virtually unnoticeable light cleaning. A well struck specimen with remarkably sharp detail on the portrait complemented by an old blue tone, over proof like fields. Although this is a traditionally poorly made currency coin, this piece bears a strong resemblance to an 1839 Proof Crown in its clarity of strike and wealth of detail. Excellent eye appeal. About Uncirculated.
Estimated Value $2,000 - 2,300.
