Lot 330

1793 S-13 R4- Liberty Cap AG3. Sharpness G4 but there is an obvious dent in the field off the chin and an opposing dent that obliterates ME in AMERICA. Although no light passes through the dents, I suspect there is or was a small hole in the center that is now filled with crud. The planchet is smooth on the devices but shows microscopic roughness in the fields and protected areas. No verdigris or additional marks. Lightly cleaned and retoned a slightly glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. The date is weak but easily readable and the legends are nearly complete with AMER in AMERICA the major weak spot. Not perfect but it's a 1793 Liberty Cap with a readable date, and that counts for something.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.

Realized $2,174
