Antonio Pineda Sterling Silver Lady's Powder Compact ca. 1940s. Antonio Pineda was born 1908 in Mexico and became a celebrated silversmith especially in the 1940s and 1950s and was considered in the same league as Georg Jensen and Margaret De Patta. Known for his silver content of 970 (sterling silver standard is 925) and craftsmanship his pieces remain today well regarded. Offered is a powder compact with elaborate etching on top and bottom of case. Inside is a mirror and a silver hinged lid which held the powder and pad, with the original pad still included. On lid is engraved birthday greetings to "Helen". In fine used condition compact measures 3½ x 3¾", total gross weight 5½ ozt, stamped silver 970. Estimate $150 - 250
