Bruttium. Brettian League, c. 215-205 BC. AR Drachm (4.52 g). Time of Hannibalic Occupation of Italy. Veiled and diademed head of Thetis(?) right, scepter at shoulder, with grasshopper behind. Reverse: Poseidon leaning left, holding scepter and resting foot on column; eagle holding thunderbolt before. SNG Cop. --; SNG ANS --; BMC --. Apparently the grasshopper symbol very rare compared to the fly symbol usually seen. Good strike and attractive style, the reverse sharp and choice. Choice Very Fine / Extremely Fine.
