Phoenicia, Byblos, c. 350-340 BC. AR Shekel tetradrachm (13.27 g) minted likely under Azbaal. Galley left with three Hoplite warriors holding shields above bulwark; below, hippocamp left above murex shell. Reverse: Lion attacking bull. Mitchiner 137; Dewing 2662. Lustrous, exhibiting an excellent strike for this type. Superb Extremely Fine.

North of Tyre, Sidon and Berytos, Byblos lies at the Mediterranean Sea. Also known as Gebal, it was a city of historical importance.
