Great Britain. Memorial Medal, ND. MI p.346/200. Struck in copper. Charles I, 1625-1649. Obverse: Bust of king right with long hair, lovelock on left shoulder, wearing plain armour. Below N.R.F. (Norbert Roettier fecit). Reverse: Hand from above offers crown. REX PACIFICVS VICTVS VINCEBAT HOSTES VICTOR TRIVMPHAT IN COELIS (The pacific King, thought vanquished, vanquished his enemies, and triumphs a victor in heaven). Made by Roettier after the 1660 Restoration this is an exceptional and prooflike example of one of England's most handsome 17th century medals. NGC graded MS-62 Brown.
