Lot 3159

1880, $100 United States Note. . Fr-173. . KL-792. An extremely high grade for this very rare issue, and an incredible "looker" for the advanced collector of paper money A choice quality example with the appearance of a "CU" note, it has three wide margins, one narrow but still complete (lower) margin and only a little soiling in the area where the counting smudge usually occurs. Large brown seal and blue serial numbers.

Lincoln is on the left; at the right, an allegory representing Architecture. The note is totally without repairs or restorations, and it has retained rather fresh color. It's been quite a while since a nice high grade F-173 has been available to collectors, and this one should create a bit of excitement. Almost Uncirculated.
Estimated Value $25,000 - 30,000.
