Trajan, AD 98-117. AE Sestertius minted at Rome, AD 103-111. Laureate head right of Trajan. Reverse: Victory standing right, fastening a shield inscribed VIC - DAC to a palm tree. RIC 527. C. 452. Even red-brown patination with underlying hints of the golden color of orichalcum. Extremely Fine.

Trajan was given the title "Dacicus" to commemorate his victories in Dacia and the extension of the Roman Empire to include this province. Interestingly, Trajan was the first emperor of non-Italian birth; he was born in Spain, AD 53.
