A translation of the reverse Latin inscription is "The Insult of the Jewish Tax Removed." The emperor Nerva reformed the abusiveness in collecting taxes from those who practiced Judaism and commemorated this on some of his orichalcum (brass) sestertii. Nerva did much in his short reign to improve conditions throughtout the empire.
