Smith, and P.C. Jones. Bishop worked as a surveyor for many years, mapping the complex water rights and land titles in Nuuanu Valley. He was a prolific and controversial commentator on political, religious, and social conditions in Hawaii and was recognized as an expert on natural phenomena.
