Condition: Pristine condition -- all orders and badges, excellent enamels throughout, with exception of the Order of Patriotic War and the Valiant Labor medal, which have some red enamel chips. Most documents are in excellent vintage condition, some of the early papers show expectable wear. Estimated Value $50,000

Gartsuev Pavel Nikolaevich (1905 – 1969), was a career railroad worker. Since he was 14 years old, he was employed at some of the major strategic railroad constructions of the time. With dazzling perseverance, comrade Gartsuev managed to serve in the Red Army, and graduate from Leningrad’s University of Rail Road Transport, all by the mid. 1930’s. During the Russo-Finnish War, he was working as deputy superintendent of near-frontal Kirovskaya Rail-Road. For successfully managing operations of the railroad under hard wartime conditions, by the end of 1939, comrade Gartsuev was bestowed with the Order of Badge of Honor #11383. He assumed full responsibility for the Kirovskaya Rail-Road in 1940. During WWII, he distinguished himself in the same role, for which, by decree of Nov. 5, 1943, "For outstanding merits to the State in the provision of transportation for the front and outstanding achievements in the restoration of the railway economy in difficult wartime conditions" he was bestowed with the title of Hero of the Socialist Labor, with GOLD HSL Star #63 and Order of Lenin #15473. After the war, Gartusev managed North-Caucasus Rail Road, then Moldavian Rail Road, then worked in Czechoslovakia for 3 years in the "USSR-Czech Shared Freight Railroad Cars Park Bureau". Retired in 1967. Died on Dec. 23, 1969.
