Lot 307

1966, July 2, McAllen, TX, Flown Rocket Cover. An interesting cover flown on Rocket #4. The red cachet is marked "Damaged by Rocket Explosion". What is unusual is that the cover has no US postage, but does have the US/Mexico and Mexico/US rocket stamps of the July 2nd flights tied by the 1966, 30th Anniversary handstamp: "Dispatched by Rocket". The burn hole in the center of the cover was due to the explosion of the original rocket that flew this cover. This combination cover appears to be unlisted. E-Z No. 45C5/68-1 var.
Estimated Value $75 - 100.
