Lot 3068

Great Britain. Penny, 1864. Victoria. Bun Head. S.3954; KM-749.2. Fr-48. Crosslet 4 in date; the rarer of the two varieties of this super-rare date, which ties with 1869 as the rarest date bronze penny of Victoria. Carefully graded by NGC, this is an excellent coin which shows just a little real wear, and a very clear date. The dies are heavily clashed, showing ghosts of the other side on each side. All the marks are tiny. The surfaces in fact are especially pleasing for the grade, dark brown in color with hints of luster. The penny collector who purchases this coin will be the envy of many, many other bronze enthusiasts. NGC graded AU-55 Brown.
Estimated Value $1,600 - 2,200.
The Cheshire Collection.

Realized $1,740
