(Hawaii) Assignment of Real Estate Leases. Land transaction between Robert Halstead, Henry Gordon, Gaspar Sylva and Joseph Mendonca 3½ pp, 12½" x 8", 27 Aug. 1878. Fine; light toning and seal offset. Witnessed by Levi Chamberlain, who was a member of the Second Company of American missionaries that arrived in Honolulu in 1823, and signed by Robert Halstead, a pioneer sugar planter who became the owner and manager of Waialua plantation, which was succeeded by the Waialua Agricultural Company in 1898. Also signed by Henry Gordon, W.R. Castle (as Notary Public), S.N. Emerson (as Agent to take Acknowledgments for the Island of Oahu), and Thomas Brown (as Registrar of Conveyances). Document has royal seal (ink).
